i have it and it has only snapped one driveshaft, one output shaft, and twisted the spline's on 3 steel driveshaft's.. Uprgraded to a spohn extreme duty and don't have no more problems..

I have also snapped one driveshaft and twisted the splines in the slip yoke of a Denny's Nitrous driveshaft.

Here is what I did:
Went down to Autozone and bought myself a new clutch for $250 (some area of US sell it for $200). It will have a warranty and it uses the LT4 pressure plate which gives you more holding power.
Now, later if you start to wear the clutch again, just get a new disc. If you want, try a different one from Spec.

I just did the same thing.. the pressure plates are identical down to the serial numbers.. the whole setup 199.00 and holds just fine.. don't think you can beat that deal..

Identical to a mcleod pressure plate I have in my garage.. only the autozone one is not painted red.. every number matches including the manufacturer.. I posted about it on here before apparently it is some sort of patent by valeo on the pressure plate..
I have an SLP PP with a Mcleod kevlar/organic disk. it's listed as the performance disk for shifts above 7500 RPM. I'm really happy with mine. I've beat the **** out of it and it never slips, is 100% as driveable as stock and doesn't chatter. At your power level I'd reccomend either a stock disk or the Mcleod with an LT4 or SLP(LT4 with holes drilled) pressure plate.
The ST is overkill for a bolt-on car. You could get away with a new stock LT1 setup just fine, but a mcleod/SLP combo is very similar in price.
