SLP header gasket

I need to replace my header gaskets this weekend and I was just wondering if I must only use the SLP gaskets? Or can I use another brand that I can get at a local auto shop?

Re: SLP header gasket

I'm in the process of installing my SLP's (assuming you have the SLP 1-3/4" also?) and I'd have to say you need to use theirs. I have a set of the standard Felpros and they don't fit properly and block parts of the exhaust holes. I'm planning to order an extra set to keep on hand.

Re: SLP header gasket

Ordering an extra set is a good idea. Because I need to get mine done this weekend. With no gaskets.

I used the Felpro 1406's with my 94 style SLP's and they worked just fine. They've been in for about 10k miles with no leaks too.

Re: SLP header gasket

Call around. Many auto stores will carry them. SLP gaskets are not one piece gaskets, where the Felpros are. Advise you also use 1" bolts rather than 3/4" bolts. JMHO

Re: SLP header gasket

Good to know, I'll take a look at those 1406's as well...that would sure beat installing them individually, I was NOT looking forward to that!
