SLP CAI - How often should I clean the filters?
SLP CAI - How often should I clean the filters?
The car never comes out on wet days, and is never driven in "dusty" conditions. My uncle's shop threw it on around 49k or so, and it has 61,400 on it now. The install was about 2 1/2 years ago. Is it time to clean them? They look a little dingy, with some shriveled up bugs stuck to them for good measure
But overall, they don't look bad at all, and the way my uncle has the clamps on the filters, its going to be a royal b!tch getting them off!
Is it overkill to clean them now, or is this the acceptable range? Thanks for answering a kinda dumb question

Re: SLP CAI - How often should I clean the filters?
How many miles are you guys putting on within that timeframe? I always figured that with a filter, mileage was more important than time. Fluids break down with time, but filters don't really get harmed by sitting around. Because I drive this car so little (3-4k a year, typically), I'm just curious how many miles is the generally appropriate interval...
Re: SLP CAI - How often should I clean the filters?
I probably only put on 600 miles a year, I just do it anyways since it is fairly easy just to pop the thing off. Plus,I do all of the other maintenance each year so I figure why fall short on that. But it is extreme overkill on my part.

BTW, does everyone here use sealing grease? I know my kit from SLP didn't have any, and I highly doubt he used any when he put the filters on. But the way I look at it, its probably not that crucial anyways, because things like your intake elbow don't use it either!
For the record, I think I asked this awhile ago, and 10-15k seemed to be the reasonable interval to wash these out...was just wondering if this makes sense or not. 600 miles? BAH. And I thought I was ****
