SLP 1 3/4" headers for 97 dual cat cars
Is anybody still running these? I have been for many years now and I am thinking about a switching to LT's. How do they sound with GMMG or LMII catbacks?

Are you talking about the primary size?

SLP Dual Cat headers
From SLP parts description:
These 4-into-1 headers are available for the 1995-1997 V8 Camaro and Firebird. They are guaranteed to produce more torque and horsepower than any other header with the same tube size and application currently available, up to 20 additional horsepower depending on application. Available in 1-3/4" O.D. primary tube size; we suggest using 1-3/4" tube size for 350 C.I.D. engines. The headers are designed to work with factory A.I.R. systems and catalysts, and may require an SLP installation kit to complete the installation.

The problem with the "dual-cat" headers in general is the agonizing bends on the driver's side to keep the cat in the stock position. Doesn't do much to help flow, and seems to radiate heat to the extent under hood plastic parts start to melt. A buddy of mine had the AS&M dual-cat headers, and even with the entire firewall and most of the fender liners covered with heat reflecting sheeting, stuff like the dipstick handles were melting. He pulled them and dumped them quickly.

Way back when I bought them I had Paul Berry coat them with the 2100* coating as extra protection against heat. After a few years, even with the coating, the heat melted one of my heater hoses. I am considering dumping them for some LT's but I remember how much of a pain they were to install.
