Slow Throttle Response

I have been noticing awhile that my throttle response when I blip it quickly is delayed. I'll be idling and tap it real quick and it won't response for about 1 second. I drove my brother's friend's camaro and his throttle response was crisp. Any suggestions like maybe I have to tweak a setting with TunerCat or something mechanical?

Start by looking at the throttle plates while someone pushes slowly on the pedal. Wouldn't be the first throttle cable going south. While you're there, check over every inch of the breather tube from the air filter to the intake. With a light, pay close attention to the TB area around the throttle plates also. All of this will take a wopping 3 minutes to do and costs 0. If all that shows nothing, go for testing the TPS with a meter or a scanner. Then.....

I've checked the voltages with Freescan and it climbs from .67 volts up at a constant pace when opening the throttle. When I'm in the engine bay and I open the throttle, I can hear a suction noise, then the engine revs. I can try and look over the cai and throttle body later though.

it might be your fuel pump...common problem if you've got higer mileage... check your fuel pressure
or maybe even something as simple as your fuel filter... worth a shot, replacing that costs a couple bucks and takes 5 minutes

Most likely, if the problem is caused by a leak, it would be after the MAF sensor.... e.g. - torn elbow. Might also be the sign of a MAP sensor problem.

I changed the fuel filter a while back. My fuel pump does whine a little, but not too loud. And I have a granatelli MAF sensor, is there anything I should tune for it?

Lower your TPS voltage when throttle percent is 0 down from .67 to .6.

93s lt1s like .55.

I've got a 94, I thought the stock TPS was supposed to be at .67 Volts. At .67volts my TPS reads 0%

Stock is .67 for all years, but with aftermarket parts like a TB, your MAF, or maybe even intake/exhaust lowering the idle TPS voltage will help initial throttle response and tip-in. 93's for some reason like a bit lower then the rest.

I will try to dig up the article and try to find where I learned that from, it has been a while.

The golen site confirms that 93's usually like .5v instead of the .67 spec:
http://www.golenengineservice.com/html/tps.html.

Can't specifically find the thread that had a guy testing on his 94+, but he found the most crisp response at ~.6v. It was years ago so I do not even remember the site where I had read it. Personally, my 93's H/C stock shortblock build liked .55v with an AS&M 58mm the best.

Of course it could also be your tune - an out of whack VE table can kill your throttle response and give you a bad off idle stumble. Checking the TPS is easy, quick, and free though so its worth a try IMO.
