Slip-In Primary Leak Fix!!
Well how about this..... I once mended an Exhaust header that comes on the 1989 Ford Escort GTs. The Oxigen sensor Part that goes in between the long tubes had a crack in the welding and fresh air was sipping in. Its was wreckin havoc with the Mixture since the Oxygen sensor seats right in that spot.....
Instead of removing the Headers and have them welded I just sanded everywhere and got me some of that cracked manifold cement they sell at PepBoys. Its a small plastic container with this dark liquid and some of that material that resembles AlumnaSeal that fixes radiators.... it was a cheap fix so I bought it and tried it. It worked!! It dried out to a solid "welded like" metal that sealed the crack and dried so hard it felt like that Metal putty they sell to fix metal parts.
I cant recal the name of it but it specifically say on the label its designed to fill cracks on exhaust manifolds and it has a little picture of a cracked one on the packaging.
Just an idea... it says it was good to over 3000 degrees

I found a little packet from Permatex that is made to weld/mend cracks in the block. I found it at Nappa. It was about 9 bucks for a very small tube.
I haven't tried it yet.
Let me make it clear to everyone that I was unable to remove the header in one piece. I removed everything except the motormounts. You might have to remove both the motor side and kmember side mounts to get the header out. I don't know this though, because I did not try it.
