Slight miss at low rpm

Sometimes while driving normally the engine will seem to miss anywhere between 1000 and 2000 rpm. It is not like a jolting hesitation but it is noticeable to me at least. My first thought is that the opti is on the way out but I wasnt sure if they can die slowly or if they just stop working all together at once.

The opti is probably not the problem.

Before I spent any dough, I would clean the heck out of some things. The first thing is the EGR. These are notorious for off idle hesitation. You can check it by disconnecting the vac line to it and plugging it, then take it for a ride.

I would also clean the throttle body and IAC motor.

Last replace the TPS.

Think about having the injectors professionally cleaned through the rail.

This can make a huge diff. Be sure the cleaner they use is safe for O2's. I use and rec. 3M cleaner.

i really doubt that the tps is the prob, they rarely go bad. I would think opti could be a possibility, But i would do the cheaper stuff, like plugs and wires, which are usually the cause of a low rpm miss. Now if it is an occasional miss, then i can think of EGR sticking and maybe 02's.

I would change the fuel filter anyways. Injectors are another possiblilty.

THere is a little to do list, get workin'

My vote goes for EGR cleaning. Mine was doing the same thing Between 1500 and 2000 RPMs. I pushed the EGR Diaphragm and it was stuck. I jerked it in and out till it moved and suddenly the Low RPMs miss got fixed. No wires, no opty, no cleaning of the Throttle body has been done (overdue now).

By the way my Opty has 141k miles now.
