Slight blue plug glow at night; normal?

I did a search on this and for the most part got that this is normal, but others said no. It doesn't seem to be arcing. Seems to be the ceramic on the plugs glowing blue, the back ones mainly and very faintly on the fronts. I'm pretty sure it's not arcing, but then again I've never seen arcing to know. I was just curious since I'm trying to fix a slight rough idle. I'm not getting a miss of any sort though. I also have a power loss after 5,000 rpm's only in first though, I believe that's the tranny slipping. Is this normal? I have new Taylor OVC wires and new AC Platinums in, with original coil and opti at 88,000 miles. I was thinking about buying a new coil since there cheap anyways, been replacing everything else for the heck of it anyways.

That's probably why your car isn't running up to spec. Find out what's arching, fix it, or buy a new one until you can't see the arching and the car runs right. Sparks need to be kept inside the engine :-).

Replace your spark plug wires. I am sure your headers melted one away. I had to replace mine 3 times; before I finally went out and got a custom set of wires ($150).

I have custom Taylor over the valve cover wires and they appear fine. There at least an 1" clearance or more between any part of the wire and the header on all 8 cylinders, so I don't think that's the problem. None of them are burnt or hard.

glowing spark plugs

Look to Champion for the answer. They told me if nothing else is shorted, and it appears the spark plugs are glowing. It is what's called corona affect and they said many things effect it but mostly it's from atmospheric conditions. I do know this, antifreeze plays hell with plug wire insulation. Champion is part of the cooper group.
