Your best bet would be to get awesome ported heads, rusty headers, custom exhaust with about 4 mufflers (not chambered, but more like flowmaster hushpower mufflers), and a cam with something like 225/235 115 and ALOT of lift. It will make good power without the lope.

Then when people ask you about your car act completely ignorant and say your car is really fast and just say stupid lies. Test them to see how much they know and if they are stupid, then just take their money. But if they are smart, say stuff like "yea im looking at putting twin turbos on soon and maybe new camS" or "its fast, i beat my friends prelude all the time, its one of the fastest cars in our HS." The "its just an auto" works awesome too. Dont forget to mention that you descreened your MAF :haha:

You also might wanna invest in a good hidden nitrous system.

Basically, the slower you say your car is, the more people get suspicious. The more you start to talk about little stuff, the more they wanna race.
damn good point

Somewhat of a sleeper....im not going overboard on this....i meant just the ported heads and other things without a cam. I will not go back to stock manifolds or stock exhaust. Spent to much money on the thing....and i can tell them all it has is headers and exaust..

Get a tame cam, if you don't get some sort of a cam the heads aren't really going to be able to shine. One reason why a good head cam swap can do 120rwhp on a car and just a head swap might get as much as a mediocre cam swap.

You can get a decent cam that will sound stock so it's a total sleeper, but the best thing to do is get very good heads.

Re: Sleeper Idea....

Ricers can be really stupid when it comes to domestics. After opening my hood and looking at the car inside and out, and after hearing the idle, two guys (owning a tt supra and 300zx tt) concluded that my car was stock except for a k&n filter and exhaust... I was offended but at least I surprised both of them

With good programming, you can make a 220ish cam sound stockish to the untrained ear.

As Bret said the first time. A baby cam like the Crane 210/224 or GM845 or
TPIS ZZ9 and a really good, really quiet exhaust. Set up right you could be
in the 340 rwhp range and running mid 12s, maybe low 12s if everything is
right on.

Think of the stupidest lies you have ever heard. Tell them you have the bigger 'cop car fuel injectors' and you had camelbacks put on it with a 3/4 race cam and som used NASCAR pistons
Don't forget "cop shocks".

Re: Sleeper Idea....

Me and my buddy with a 2000 WS-6, LT's, true duals, cam, and heads convinced a ricer guy and all of his buddies that it was a v-6. They all bought the b.s. and raced him. Needless to say he destroyed that guy. After they came back over to where we were they were a little upset and said sarcasticly nice v-6. Then we told them oh we meant it had a lawnmower motor in it. They just walked away.

Re: Sleeper Idea....

Talk to Llyod Elliot, get him to port your heads and grind a custom cam to match them. Most of his cams are fairly small and make big power. It's all about matching up a cam to how your heads flow. Get a good tune and factory exhaust with this setup and you'll be a pretty good sleeper.

Re: Sleeper Idea....

Everyone will hear the cam, it shard to build a sleeper these days.
Only one I know of is a friends 87 GN that looks and sounds bone stock and runs a mid 11.

A 125 shot and E.T.'s will go a looonnnggg way in those cars....

Re: Sleeper Idea....

A cam will almost always give the car away, unless you can find someone to grind you an "old man cam", which is basically a slightly-larger-than-stock cam with a moderate power gain (~20-30 rwhp). Speed Inc. might be able to help you on that.

My heads / cam car with a comp XE 224/230 definately does NOT sound stock... and that's an itty bitty cam with barely any lope to it. I parked next to my friend's stock LT1 car, and you couldn't even hear his car next to mine.
