My heads / cam car with a comp XE 224/230 definately does NOT sound stock... and that's an itty bitty cam with barely any lope to it. I parked next to my friend's stock LT1 car, and you couldn't even hear his car next to mine.

The "Old Man Cam" was what I was thinking of too. Lloyd could easily do one of those for you. His emissions cam might be a good canidate for that.

Re: Sleeper Idea....
Sleeper huh? Once i get the 383 in the Nova, ill show you sleeper. This thing will look stock down to a dummy single tail pipe exiting the back. The exhaust note will be tamed as best I can. Bench seat, Old school floor shifter, all 6 cylinder badges. Under the hood all components will look as a '63 Chevy II Nova with a 283 would down to the "Chevrolet" scripted valve covers, painted and debadged intake manifold. I think the only DEAD giveaway at a car show would be the roll cage, or the headers. Steelie Rims with doggie dishes and trim rings for wheels. I will definitely post pics once this project gets underway.

BTW, the 224/236 114 LSA I have in my TA is pretty tame at 950 RPM idle. It sounds just a little more rumbly than stock, except when you first crank it and the lifters haven't pumped up yet, then it sounds pretty nasty.

GM 845 or TPIS ZZ9? I would think they qualify as old man cams unless I'm
completely missing something. I have nothing against a custom cam, and
knowing what I know now, I would have gone that route. I' m just wondering
if there is a big difference in specs for a no lope custom cam and the off the
shelf models.
The key to a sleeper is a stock appearance and no lope. Even if a car runs
crappy, if it has any lope, it's a dead giveaway. More cubes is good, but also
expensive unless the project includes a new motor.

I thought the additional cubes would have cut it down a bit more than it did.I'm not complaining though.
