I am planning on P&P my heads this summer along with the GM 847 cam. I know most of the power is in your heads....so to make my car a sleeper could I go with 1.6rr's, Better springs, P&P heads, P&P Intake, and 52mm tb. The car would sound completely stock with the exception of my exhaust. Whats do you guys think.....

P.S. I will have my spray on the car also....

 

That will hardly be a sleeper. It should go pretty fast, but definietly not a sleeper. The cam will still have a very noticeable lope to it, along with the considerably louder exhaust, noone will mistake it for being slow.

I'm not understanding what you are saying. Ported heads without a cam will get you almost no power increase. If you put a Cam in, people WILL notice it's not a sleeper. a SLEEPER is a car that looks and sounds identical to the way it did from the factory. It's is percieved as slow. Those mods you listed will make it a monster. You will not be able to hide its' power.

 

The greatest sleeper there ever is or will be is the Buick GN....sniff, shame I totalled it

 

I understand what you are trying to say and I think its a damn good idea... one guy on here said he had 330rwhp with ported heads and a stock cam with headers. Depending on the headwork you may be able to get more or less but it would probably sound not too much different than stock and be quite a bit faster without revving to the moon, too.... then there is the nitrous.

 

No one that has a fast car would have fast and furious look to it. Make it look off the hook yo! That would be a sleeper. Also the big APC banner on the windshield.

 

THere is no such thing as a SLeeper Camaro.

If you own a Camaro and have a modified engine... where you have done anything to the exhaust... or heads in anyone... your not going to full anyone. Especialy not when you hit the throttle...


I have no Z28 badges and even a single exaust pipe on my car... the only time I ever fooled anyone was when the car is parked.

 

If you want a sleeper, you are gonna have to spend alot of money on the heads and a hidden nitrous system.

With ported heads and a stock cam, you WILL gain power.

Your best bet would be to get awesome ported heads, rusty headers, custom exhaust with about 4 mufflers (not chambered, but more like flowmaster hushpower mufflers), and a cam with something like 225/235 115 and ALOT of lift. It will make good power without the lope.

Then when people ask you about your car act completely ignorant and say your car is really fast and just say stupid lies. Test them to see how much they know and if they are stupid, then just take their money. But if they are smart, say stuff like "yea im looking at putting twin turbos on soon and maybe new camS" or "its fast, i beat my friends prelude all the time, its one of the fastest cars in our HS." The "its just an auto" works awesome too. Dont forget to mention that you descreened your MAF :haha:

You also might wanna invest in a good hidden nitrous system.

Basically, the slower you say your car is, the more people get suspicious. The more you start to talk about little stuff, the more they wanna race.

 

You will never make a car a sleeper with the GM 847.

a good idea for a sleeper,use the lt4 cam(not the hot cam) it has a 115 lobe sep,a tad more duration,gooood springs,comp r's,hard pushrods,ported heads,200 156 undercut valves,titanium ret and 10*locks,1.7 rr,a rel timing chain,use lt4 ex. manifolds,custom tune,drag radials,150 shot,255lph pump,stock muffler,this combo should get you into the mid to hi 11s...unsuspectingly...especially stang owners you know they judge a fast car by how loud it is!

 

Put quiet exhaust on it,and you will have to be next to the car to hear the cam

 

A quiet exhaust and a good tame cam is a better idea.
