skip/miss under load, rpm independent

Here's a little background....

1995 Z28,101k miles, less than 8k miles on hooker shorties and NGK TR55s. Previous owner said Opti was replaced at 75k, I bought the car at 85k. When I put the headers on, I used DEI plug boot heat shields. The wires weren't touching the primaries, but were too close for my liking. It's been a year since the headers, so if it is a wire I feel pretty lucky. Wires should've been replaced with the Opti, and who knows about the O2s and ICM/coil.

After researching on here alot, I think I've found my problem. I'm just curious as to what someone who knows more about LT1s than I do will say. The car runs as good as ever when it's cold. After it gets to operating temp, it develops a miss that doesn't go away at WOT (not O2s). It also hasn't shown a code. I have access to a scanner, but won't be able to get to it till Saturday. The first time I noticed it, it started as a miss under load, progressively getting worse that now it skips no matter what rpm or load. Ran it tonight, the skip came back at temp just like I thought. I pulled it back in the garage with the lights off and I have a very visible arc off the passenger side. I *think* that's my problem, but I don't wanna go sinking alot of money in it right now chasing this skip. All my money is sunk into the Mcleod clutch going in Saturday. I'm 99% sure it 's the wires....

What should I get? MSD? Taylor? Autozone? Thanks for the help!

It sounds like bad plugs and/or wires. Possibly opti.

if its arching its definilty the wires and or coil/icm. My advice would be get cheap Lifetime warantee wires from autozone and find a coil/icm off someone from the boards, or if you have the money get them from autozone too. A new coil/icm made a HUGE difference on my car.

Thanks for the replys. The arc is coming off one of the two middle wires on the passenger side. I've been so busy (new house) I haven't had time to mess with it. I drive the car once a week so it hasn't been an issue. I'll probably get a set of wires and coil/icm and be done with it....hopefully.

So the autozone wires are ok? I'm temped to order some accel or msd, but is it actually worth the extra money? It's pretty much a stock car, I don't need upgraded ignition right now.

What about an OTVC setup?
