Re: Size cams

I'd say to first set up a profile signature with vehicle information and mods that shows in each post. Then establish some goals and we can steer you in a good direction.

That being said, typically, it's recommended to have some bolt on's like intake, exhaust and headers installed before you jump to a cam. Knowing what gears you have would be ideal. Also, decent torque converter will help you out as well. Once you have done those and your goals are inline with where a XE503 would get you it's not a bad cam. I ran one in a Corvette M6/3.42 and it was fun and got decent mileage with ported heads and some extra lift. Remember an aftermarket cam may require other supporting mods like rockers, pushrods, rocker studs, and a spring kit.

Re: Size cams

Cam is one of the LAST things I’d think about especially if the car is stock.

Re: Size cams

OP

A cam alone will still need additional adjustments to the engine. New valve springs and a PCM tune at a minimum. To allow a larger cam to perform as much as it can further mods need to happen. Head /intake porting, higher stall TC, 1:6 RR. Depending on the size of the cam larger fuel injectors and fuel pump are required

….so just a cam alone will trigger additional mods to get the maximum performance gain. If emission testing is something you need to comply to than those choices have boundaries you need to stay within to pass emission testing

Just to be clear.... your engine only has one cam.

All 4th Gen V8 versions of the 4L60E come with the Corvette servo. Doesn't affect cam selection.

If going the cam route, I’d suggest looking at newer lobe technology. Talk to Lloyd over at http://elliottsportworks.com/. He is incredibly knowledgeable and will take the time to dial in the right cam for your goals.

+1

It doesn't make sense to go off the shelf, you don't save any money. Just talk to Lloyd about your specific car and what your goals are and he will spec out and have a cam shipped to directly to you.

I just put in my LE grind paired with his trickflow heads and it's a totally different car.
