Picked up a motor to replace blown one

I figured it would be wiser to get a good used motor while I get old one built but......... lol

it came out of a wrecked 1993 camaro (hit buy a grain truck)with 60k miles on it..

I really don’t want to crack it open but will replace all seals

I was thinking since I can’t let stuff be and since it’s on an engine stand should I leave it alone or put a can in it? Or just say heck with it and get a LE package? Don’t need a stroker nice but I’m being realistic here.

also what’s signs should I be aware of or look for since this motor was in a wreck?

If you’re getting the old motor built and this is just so that you have something to drive while that’s in progress, I’d leave it stock and refresh all seals and gaskets like you said. If anything is worn out, replace that too. Then, when the other motor is ready, you’ll have a nice, clean, reliable motor you can sell.

If you build both, then that’s less you can spend on the first one. And you don’t usually get your money back when selling a modified motor, so that money would just be wasted.

Only thing I’m worried about is how bad I hurt the old motor. 260k blow-by from hell spun something cause it’s a knocking.

plus all the work it takes to swap motors on a 12hr work schedule.
