single cat Y and ls1 exhaust...

hey,

just getting some money now, and was thinking definitely some long tubes for the next mod... my quesiton is this:

my friend with a 97Z has a dual cat custom y-pipe, i was wondering if it's possible to retain a SINGLE cat while going with a long tube setup? also, is there any y-pipe out there that consistently fits great, i'd rather just buy one and put it on all myself, but if need be i'll go custom.

in conclusion, i'd like just ONE cat, anyone have pictures of their setup? thanks!

oh, and is there much modification involved to get LS1 exhaust to fit the LT1 car? only reason i ask is because i have found a nice deal on a used LS1 aftermarket system and if it's not much involved i'd just do it. btw if it makes a difference i have a 94 with the loudmouth install kit. thanks! (again)

Re: single cat Y and ls1 exhaust...

i think the problem running a single cat with LTs, besides a mild restriction, would be that it would be located a ways back iin the system. this could cause problems getting heated up to proper temps and functioning properly.

i would just look into installing dual hiflow cats on the longtubes and throwing on the exhaust.

i'd be willing to bet with the Ypipe from the LTs you could very easily put the LS1 exhaust on...since all it consists of is a straight pipe following the axle
