Question Simple Scanmaster wiring question

I have a 95 w/ the OBD1 PCM and OBD2 connector. I'm using Brent's install page to help me out. I'm trying to wire it up but came to this part:
The ScanMaster RED wire is the power wire and gets connected to the ORANGE wire on the ALDL connector in location #16. This is a nothing more than a power feed from the cig lighter, fuse #11. The ScanMaster BLACK wire gets connected to the BLACK wire on the ALDL connector in location #4. This is your ground wire. The ScanMaster WHITE wire (data wire) gets connected to the TAN wire on the ALDL connector in location #9. Keep in mind, these are locations for a 96 with an OBDII connector so if you have a different year, yours may be different.
So is there going to be a difference in the wiring since he is using an OBD2 PCM? Thanks in advance.

The 95 uses the same connector as my 96... hook-up should be the same for you even though I have(had) an OBDII PCM.

Do you realize that there is no reason to connect any other wire than the white ScanMaster wire to the tan ALDL data wire. From my online ScanMaster writeup:
INSTALLATION:

The ScanMaster is supplied with a 4-wire bundle (Note: I have heard that the latest models may be missing the green wire). The wires have stripped ends, and that's it - no plug, no connector.

Red - +12V power supply. It does not have to be "switched" power. The ScanMaster will shut itself down on loss of signal. I used the wire that goes to the cigarette lighter.

Black - Ground. Connect this wire under any good screw or bolt that is securely mounted in the metal chassis.

White - Data wire. Connect to the "data" terminal in the ALDL connector. In the 94's this it the lower right hand pin. On all models, this is a light tan wire.

Green - Not used.

Some thoughts on the wiring details:

You need to provide for a "disconnect" on the white data wire. It must be disconnected if you attempt to attach any other device to the ALDL connector, like a laptop cable for LT1_Edit or other programming system, a cable for a Hypertech Power Programmer, or a dealer scan tool. The ScanMaster uses bi-directional communication, and the signals from the ScanMaster will interfere with the signals from the programmers or scanners. A small switch or a "plug" will suffice.

If you put a "plug" in the other lines, it allows the unit to be removed and used on another vehicle without cutting the wires.
The white wire does not have to be connected directly to the pin on the ALDL connector. I spliced into the wire on the back of the connector.

Will using a "disconnect" to the power wire serve the same purpose as to the data wire.

It should. So long as the ScanMaster is not on and communicating with the PCM there should be no interference. However, I still like putting the "disconnect" in the data wire better even though I can't give a good reason why. LOL!

I'm with Brent. I have a wire spliced to the tan data wire behind the ALDL connector, then it runs to a small micro-switch mounted directly on the ALDL connector housing, with a label indicating that it needs to be turned off to use any other device. That way I know there can't be any interference.
