side effects of removing AIR and EGR for LTs?

I was wondering what the side effects were of removing the EGR components and the AIR system and just running race long tubes on an 93 Z28? Emmissions aren't important to me but i have heard that the car's mixture will run super rich without the EGR. Any problems with removing AIR? I understand that I will throw an SES code or two by donig this. Thanks for the help.

Plan on running LTs, no cats, true duals w/ H pipe and some sort of mufflers (magnaflow or hooker aeros)

I Think The Only Thing You Will Lose Is Weight. You Will Probabley Have To Get You Computer Reprogramed So Your Ses Light Will Go Off

It will throw a code, but you can tune that out whenever you get one. You don't need a tune just for LT's, but it will help. The computer will adjust itself using the O2's to keep the stock AFR, which is already kind of rich. It will smell richer since you're flowing more exhaust as well.

It will, mine did. Just won't make any difference at the inspection station.

From my understanding, as long as the electrical circuits are intact with a good fuse, you shouldn't set an SES light.

Try and clarify, since there appears to be a lot of confusion in the posts above:

1. If you unplug the AIR pump, and keep a good fuse and relay in the circuit, you will not get a code, and you don't have to program anything out (93-95)

2. If you remove the EGR valve, you **MAY** get a code for no flow. The OBD-I diagnostic is not very sensitive, and only 10-20% of the OBD-I (93-95) EGR deletes set a code. **IF** you get a code, get it programmed out, so your SES light will still provide some useful purpose.

3. If you remove the EGR vacuum solenoid, you will get a code and a light (93-97), unless you insert a resistor in the harness connector with the same resistance as the solenoid, or have the code programmed out.

4. Deleting EGR will not cause the system to run "super rich".

5. Tuning for mods like LT's makes more sense on a speed-density 93, because headers improve volumetric efficiency, and the VE tables need to be adjusted.

6. I can't think of any reason the exhaust would "smell richer since you're flowing more exhaust". The exhaust will smell more because he's deleting the cat.
