Should I put a Melling stock Oil Pump or get another HV?

I'm doing some work on my 383 stroker after 10k miles. It has a Melling HV Oil Pump, and a Canton 7qts oil pan. I'm replacing a piston, re-ringing the motor, replacing a broken valve and I'm debating whether I should by another Melling HV oil pump, or get a stock Melling instead.
I definitely want to put a new oil pump. I did have some issues related to oil psi being unstable at one point.
Thoughts?!

Actually, the stock pump supplies our engines with plenty of oil, even a 383.

So...I shouldn't have a problem putting a stock one to work with my Canton 7qts oil pan?

A stock one should be ok. A melling stock replacement would be the next step up.

Question

zhevy-1 I'm doing some replacing on my 396 too. Do you happen to know if that canton oil pan will clear flp's? Do you have anything in the pan like, baffle's, windage tray, scaper etc? My Morosso 7qt came with nothing! I need a real oil pan before putting it back together.

Thanks!
