should i keep my LT1???

I have been into the F-body for quite a few years now and have been on this board for just as long. i am currently in college got like another year and 1/2. now i love to work on cars and all but i don't know if trying to make an LT1 faster is worth it. i am thinking i should just save my cash for a LS1 SS, WS6, or GTO. the thing is, is that the LS1 seams to be far better and i would have to have all boltons just to really get a few feet infront of a stock one in the 1/4. forget about a moded one. so what do u guys think??? Keep putting cash into my LT1 or jsut wait a while and get an LS1??

How is it not worth it? The LT1 engine is a great motor with serious potential as can be seen by many cars owned by members of this site

If you wanna save for an LS1 that's your choice. I only have a couple bolt-ons and I run with stock LS1s. Hell, I've beaten quite a few.

It ultimately boils down to what you want more. Good luck

When you get into heads/cam motors and stuff like that they are equal IMHO. They just START out with more. The majority of car owners do very little mods....hence the LS1 is usually the faster car...again...IMHO.

With only $800 in mods (headers and cai) i ran side by side and edged out some runs my friends C5 Vette. Im keeping my LT1. After I install my cam and gears I wont have to worry about C5's anymore at all. Its the Z06's who i'll then have to compete with. You can get your LT1 trapping 110-115mph in the 1/4 mile with only $2000 worth of mods. Thats why I kept my LT1. Its really up to you. As for you saying forget about beating a LS1 with mods. I beat a 00 WS6 with Borla exhaust and a lid by a half a car a couple weeks ago. He bout **** his pants hehe. When he asked my mods he just shook his head. All depends what you want. If you can afford an LS1 then why not get it? If your gonna keep your car stock then get an LS1. Once you start modding it doesnt matter which car you have. Either can be made to smoke either. I'll have about $2000 in mods on mine and should be running in the 12's and trapping 110+mph. All together I came out cheaper and faster than the LS1 Z28 I was gonna trade my car on last year. Nowadays though you can find an LS1 for cheap. Get what you want, not whats faster stock. Like I said, if you just gonna keep it stock and compare a stock LT1 vs a stock LS1 then just buy the LS1. After you start modding its a whole new game

LT1 for life!!! No seriously though I love my LT1. With the money you can put towards an LS1 just put that in mods and you got more bang for the buck!

BTW Robbie those are some nice numbers for intake and exhaust! I wish we could run Hooker LTs here..stupid emissions
