my friend has a 98 explorer and we recently swapped his alternator out with one of higher amperage for his system. there was nothing wrong with the stock one it just didnt put out enough amps. while we were taking off the stock alternator the main power wire to the batter touched something that wuz grounded and sparked. when we installed the new alternator it wasnt charging the battery. after checking and recheckin everything it still wuznt working so we decided to put the old one back on and send the new one back. when we put the old one back on it wasnt charging the batter either. could the spark have messed up the wire from the alternator to the battery?
