I installed my cam myself. It's a good learning experience. If I can do it, anybody can. I'm sure you'll get alot of help here if you run into some problems.

I am having a shop put my cam in. I didnt really think it was that big of a job untill i payed them a visit the next day to see how things were coming along, and holy crap, its quite the undertaking. I dunno if its really that hard of work, just time consuming, it would have taken me a whole week im sure to do it in my garage with my crappy tools.

depends on if youve got patience and good tools. It was a PITA for me, because I had to remove all accessories valve covers fan... etc (i was doing rr 1.6 and cam at same time) but it still only took about 2 days for me

Its taking me a week to do mine, but the only time I can work on it is from 7pm-10pm before I have to go to bed for work.

It might be intimidating at first. When I did my heads / cam swap it was the first time I had ever taken a wrench to my own car, but you've gotta start somewhere.

If you need help remembering how to put it all back together, just take lotsa pictures. Also don't be afraid to ask questions. Have a Haynes or Chilton's manual handy for torque specs and tightening sequences.

Good luck!

i think the hardest part of a cam install is putting on the valve springs.. especially if you have stiff springs like the CC987s that most guys use for lifts up to .580" range. so what i did was install the springs and RRs a couple months before i put the cam in and things went pretty smooth. i didnt break any parts and had the cam in/out in about 7-8 hours. the next day i put it all back together up to the intake which i didnt get for another 4 days....powdercoating company dropped the ball. but i think you should do it yourself for sure.. maybe even get a guy from the board to help out.
