the engine/opti has 107k on it. should I replace it? It works fine but I dont want to put it back together and then have it foul up on me. Let me know what you think...

If there's room in the engine budget, I think I'd do it just for peace of mind.

well you all seem to agree. my budget actually doesn't have room for all this, but I guess I can elininate a few other things within the budget of my daily life to make room... like electricity, food, and a few others

thanks for the input!

My opinion is if it ain't broke do not fix it. Opti's are prone to premature failure. I have seen brand new optis good bad within days of install.

Opti's are definately wear items. At 107k miles, its a good time to replace, especially if the engine is out. Do the plugs and wires too. The stock water pump isn't prone to failure like a belt driven design, but it makes sense to replace it too, since you have it off. Otherwise, the old one will probably fail and douse your new opti.

When younget a chance, disassemble the old opti, and you'll be glad you replaced it. The rotor and carbon button will be worn.
