Shortblocks

Alright guys im looking to start my new project and im just looking to see who makes the best shortblock for the money. Ive been looking at golen, stripper motorsports and vre. im jusnt not sure which to go with. Im still not sure which displacement im going to go with. if I go with the 350 or the 355 im going to run LE1 or LE2 heads and cam. If i go 383 ill run LE3 heads and cams. My car still has to be streetable though. So again whats the bast shortblock for the money because i am on a budget? Thanks.

I have a Golen Engine Services 396 short block and it is an awesome engine (great machine work and performance)! Chad Golen is also very professional to deal with. So, you can't go wrong with a Golen short block.

Take a serious look at Ellwein engines. You won't find better customer service or a nicer guy than Karl.

No personal experience with any of them. In general though I always prefer to deal with local people.

I have a golen 383 short block and Chad is great to deal with would definitly recomend him to everyone. Plus the 3 year warranty you can't beat. If you get a stroker & a new oil pan make sure you check your scraper clearence. mine had a rod hitting the scraper and you can't hear it unless you put your ear to the pan just a heads up incase you go that way.

exactly...plus locals have alot more to lose b/c they have a bunch of local racers and word gets around quick. And most engine builders are going to be at the track also.....some I know prefer to do the tuning etc. after the new engine is installed

Yep.. The shop that built my block (Burtonsville Machine) had Pro Stock engines which they built/ready to be picked up or shipped out lined up from here to there from racers all up and down the east coast. That gave me warm fuzzies.
