How & where to get a LT1 shortblock (without cam or timing chain) for under $2,000 ?

just as the subject implies - i've yet to see a cheap LT1 shortblock for sale. Not including cam or timing set, I've yet to see oen for under $3,000. I don't need forged parts, just cast stuff would do (400rwhp would be a plus). doesn't have to be a 383, I just need it assembled and tested, and able to handle a 6500 rpm redline. Is this even possible, or is LT1 stuff just way too expensive? I don't like having to deal with machine shops, i just want an assembled shortblock for cheap that's stronger than stocker LT1 stuff. Just wondering....

thanks...

just shortblock ... basically all i'd need is block, pistons, rods, crank, seals, bearings - everything assembled so i could slap my cam, timing set and heads and intake on there so i could just be ready to go.... basically like a 'bare bones' type deal....

anyone? ..... anyone?

I think Scoggin Dickey sells the LT1 shortblock for something like $1700-$1800.

Have you had your other parts installed yet?

Or are you trying to buy enough stuff to open a parts shop.....
