short block?
I dont get into the bottom end too much, but what usually comes with a shortblock? Do I just need heads+cam and the timing and such to make a motor(with wiring from old engine or course)?

I'd say the typical shortblock only includes the crank, rods, pistons and freeze plugs. You need to supply everything else.
