Dude, that pump is good for 800 HP. Get it and save some money too.

Youd have to be out of your mind to put a stocker back in. Aftermarket versions cost less and are better.

(Sorry for jacking the thread)

Jack- I cant PM your account (wish I could) But I've got a question on what you'd reccomend for some fuel help. I need to order parts in the next couple weeks.

355 8.5:1 Lt1
turbo
6500rpm redline (if not less)
looking to push 800flywheel HP, perhaps 900hp if I went crazy...
72# injectors

Fuel System otherwise stock.

You've got a canvas, help me make some fuel system art!

You know it's funny.. on the thirdgen sites, the mere mention of the fuel trap door incites flame wars of vast proportion. Alot of the "senior members" think it's a hack job. But over here in what I like to call "sane country" even Shoebox recommends them. I made a 6 1/8 X 6 1/8 hole and used this http://www.competitionengineering.co...?CatCode=10071 to cover the hole. It looks great and I can change a pump or sender in less than 15 minutes. Thats if I could find one that is! To not have a larger hole, I had to cut the senders tubes a wee bit shorter, and use Earls fittings to get the hoses to flex under the shorter hole. I also had to polish the grooves out of the sender's pipes.

But you could go even easier and cheaper by just riveting a piece of metal back over it after your done and use the larger hole instead. I have the measurements for the hole if needed. (PM)

I highly agree with the trap door and endorse it fully.

Don't know where you saw it, but I have never recommended the trap door method. I was very against it in the beginning, but have tempered just a little. I might be inclined to do it with a pre-formed door and gasket that could be riveted on. I have been in on the lengthy debates and don't even want to go there again.

If you are doing the work yourself, it is not a matter of money, but labor.

,

I just got done doing the trapdoor cut method yesterday replacing my fuel pump. (2 days because it keeps raining down here) I did mine outside to keep fumes from bothering me. It is simple and just takes a little time and patience. It can be done in 2-3 hrs or less if you are slow and take your time like me. The Granatelli is actually the WALBRO unit. I guess Granatelli distributes it or sumthin. from Summit = $125.88 part # GRN-GM722-22....See if we can get some price matching here and keep it real? Save $20+. Great vs. $400+ at mechanic shop. An easy job you can do at home. any Problems?=Post a message.
Seems alot of guys are replacing fuel pumps lately and got the info fresh on our minds..
Bad fuel pumps all around..Bad gas due to price crunch nationwide??? HHMMMM.....

Racetronix should include instructions. Simple as that.
I was wondering if anyone was going to comment on Racetronix for their lack of instructions supplied with the kit. From what I have heard is that, you used to be able to email them for the instructions, but I had no such luck. It couldn't possibly take that long to make some step by step instuctions for there customers. They have taken the time to make these pump kits so that there customers can have the esential things to do the install. But leave one crucial part out (information)! I spent a week searching for instructions for the install found out alot but not specific to this kit, I was going off a factory pump install guide, witch said to reuse the old pumps rubber boot that fits on the top of the pump, witch will not fit on the racetronix one. So Yeah instrutions would have saved me some wasted time and confusion. (Great kit but would be a better kit with instructions)

Mine is riveted on and sealed with a jet-cut gasket from 1/8" rubber. Check the link above.

I just got a email back from racetronix with detailed instructions. But it's too little too late for me. Also it has a part at the bottom of the page that states that "This information is intended for the recipient(s) name above . It may contain information that is privileged confidential and subject to copyright. Any unauthorized use , copying , review or disclosure is prohibited. " I would love to share it with you all but I dont want to get sued or something. The instructions are great wish I would have had them when I installed the dang thing. My advice if you do purchase one of there pump kits that a few days before the install email them for then instructions. At the time I didn't know you could.
