Question Shoebox...Cam question

I got a SBC cam on the board here a little while back. (It is HUGE) I was wondering is there anyway I can get it to work in my LT1? I would really like to be able to get it in but I know there will be some mods requrieded. When I went to install it the 1st time it slid right in and the oil pump drive worked. Then I went to bolt up the timing gear and the holes were WAY off. The holes in the cam were alot farther out then on my LT1 cam and there was no lip on the outside of it for the cam ret. Is there anyway to get this thing to fit or no?

Thanks
Matt

Re: Shoebox...Cam question

As you found, the gear bolt pattern is different and the snout is not machined for the cam retainer or opti. I doubt it would be worth the expense to see if you could even have it machined to work. If it is not a roller cam, you might be able to use it without the retainer and a normal SBC timing set, but then you still would have opti drive problems and need an electric water pump.
