Shifter with th400

What is the best shifter to use with the TH400 in a 6spd car. I've heard that the cheeta shifter hits the consol when it's all of the way forward. I want somehting that's not going to hit and not going to take much fabrication.

Any ideas whould be a great help.

Thanks

Any aftermarket shifter for a Th400 is going to require some fabrication to fit in to a 4 gen f-body. There is not one shifter that is a direct bolt in or even close that I have seen.

Far as the shifter choice is the cheetah is a nice unit but I guess it all comes down to what you like and feel comfortable with. There are plenty out there. Ratchet, pro stick.....

Is the B&M quicksilver any good. I need something that can work with a revers manual VB and I want something inexpensive and this is the cheapest I've seen. $145. Is it good or Junk

I put a Hurst Promatic in my car. Trimmed about a inch off the rear of the console inner structure and it fit nice. Three speed ratchet

The B&M "Pro Ratchet" which may be seen at http://www.bmracing.com/products/shf...roRatchet.html fits nicely. The boot from the 6-speed can be reused. Lever travel is very short, so it doesn't interfere with anything. Haven't used it yet though, just test fitted it the other day.

So it looks like it's going to be between the pro ratchet and the pro matic. How does the promatic fit other than having to trim the consol. Can the 6spd boot be used??? Is the shift travel short. It looks like these are the only two that Have what I and Under 150.

Anymore info would be great.

The B&M Pro-Ratchet can be bolted to the M6 car floor after putting a filler panel over the hole in the floor for the shifter. The stock M6 (94 version at least) console and shift boot fits right over it, no problem. The obvious problem is the gear position indicator is now under the boot. I can drive it on the street that way, but at the track, I just pop the boot off so I can verify the gear position before I launch.

Install

The boot top has snaps on it so it can be removed over the handle... the snaps are open in this photo...

Finished
