Maybe you should say what you are confused about. I didn' think my instructions were confusing. It is also stated how to do it with the engine running. Now, I'm confused.

they are great instuctiions, its my fault i suck.
anyways let me tell you what i understood from it and tell me if i am right.

you can set the valve lash by turning the pushrods while tighting the bolt on the rockers until the pushrod starts having resistence in turning. then after that you turn the bolt another half turn to set the preload.

is that correct???
does the cylinder im working on have to be on top dead center for me to do that? or can it be in any possition?

also. if i choose to do the method with the car running how tight do i need to tighten each bolt before i turn on the engine? cant i cause damage turngin on the engine with the rocker arms not installed propperly? if none of the pushrods are adjusted properly how will i know which one is clicking??

thanks

yeah I had a hard time with this too. But I figured out a good way to do it. Very similar to what everyone says. Put a deep 5/8" socket on a breaker bar and turn the crank at the hub in 90 degree incriments (total of 8 times) and when the lifters go all the way down adjust the push rod until it won't free spin. Then turn 1/2 turn more. When your done, start the car with the valve covers off. Make sure you take some cardboard about 6-8 inches high and the length of the head and place them at the top of the head between the springs and the metal (keeps oil from splashing out). Then stop the car and check the lash again on the rockers and push rods. When they are all the way down, adjust slightly again. Do this a few times until your sure all the rockers are adjusted and not clanking around. Then put back on the valve covers and your done. That's how I did it. Works great

If you do all that, and can get it running, just adjust them with it idling?
[Back off until they clack then tighten until they shut up and tighten another 1/4 turn?]
easier than static...[but you do have to do them static initially...]

You really need to get some reference material-that may be your biggest problem.
