SES light, EVAP?!?! help....
well i was planning on doing long tubes and a tune and other stuff very soon, so i am buying wires and plugs as well. the only thing that was wrong with the car was it had a very very small mis, that was almost only detectable with a scanner. anyways i planned on fixing that cause i was sure a plug/wire change would eliminate it. so i was going to work yesterday and my SES light came on. i went to autozone today and its a P1441 Aux Emmisions control fault. which when i looked up came to be this...
Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) system flow during non-purge
what does that mean and what will it take to fix it? i wish it was somethign simple that i could say o i can fix that, but i dont know what this means. please help!!!

Re: SES light, EVAP?!?! help....
P1441 sets when the flow switch senses vacuum, and there is not supposed to be any. Two possibilities - the EVAP purge solenoid (#7) is stuck open, allowing flow during non-purge, or the flow switch (#11) is faulty. A 3rd possibility is that you have the vacuum lines switched on the purge solenoid, not likely if you haven't changed anything lately.
Shoebox has a diagram of the EVAP system on his website:

Re: SES light, EVAP?!?! help....
alright cool, thanks for the good info. well the only thing that i can tell is wrong with it is the small misfire it has, so should i just tune it up, do the exhaust i was planning on and then delete the EVAP system with the Madz28 tune i plan on getting? would it be a smart choice to do this, to me it seems best but if someone can tell me a reason not to, id appreciate any more info. thanks a bunch.

Re: SES light, EVAP?!?! help....
The EVAP system does not hurt performance in any way (assuming its working correctly). It actually helps fuel mileage a little bit, because it allows the engine to burn fuel vapor that would normally be lost out the tank vent. And, without the engine pulling the collected fuel vapor out of the canister, eventually you will get a lot of fuel smell at the rear of the car. If you really have flow in the line when the EVAP solenoid is supposed to be closed, it might cause a misfire, particularly if it was a vacuum leak.

what do you suggest i do? something besides deleting it? im going with a tune in a few weeks here where ill be deleting rear O2s and the smog pump so should i go with the EVAP system delete as well?

Re: SES light, EVAP?!?! help....
The solenoid is really cheap so there is no reason to not replace it. Like was stated above, it does nothing to slow you down, so I don't know why you would want to delete it especially since it keeps your car from smelling and actually helps mileage. The part # in the diagram is correct. I just bought one yesterday and it cost me $17. just my .02
