SES light due to tranny...what's up?

SES came on lastnight after racing. i drove it to town today to scan it and on the way there the SES light shut off. i scanned it anyways and it came up as an error in the transmission--something about the four wheel drive transfer case (on my 97 Z28!!! ) the code was like P1087...well i don't remember the exact code. but what all codes can the transmission trip? it obviously has to do with the electronics inside, right? it is driving fine right now, i'm stumped.

Can't find P1087 on either the "tranny" or "engine" code lists. There is a P1870, which means "transmission component slipping"... and that one would not have anything to do with the electronics.

Kind of hard to answer the question unless you have the right code.

well i'm thinkin that P1870 must be the code, it looks pretty familiar. in autozone's computer it came up as 4wheel drive transfer case inoperation or something like that.
another thing is i noticed my fluid is above the full mark on the dipstick after dragracing and stuff. could this be causing it to slip? i'm going to drain some fluid tomorrow to see if that helps.
