Looking for some advice. '95 z28, 6 speed, only mod is Pace Setter Headers, and flow master. Car runs fine, but when I am cruising at about 2000 rpm, 5th gear, about 65-70, the SES light will come on....speed up or down, it goes back off.

I don't have a scanner yet, so I don't know what codes it is throwing.

Only other clue is that when I got it smogged, it as borderline HC, put a new cat on it, that didn't help.

Ideas on what to check?

 

It's probably for EGR function. There is no substitute for a scanner. I suggest you invest in one or another scanning solution. Guessing is a waste of time.

Just wanted to close out this thread.

Code 44, found an exhaust leak on the header, fixed that. Running much better!
