SES Light

I was just driving home a minute ago, it was raining, and my SES light comes on. I get home and stop and leave it running and I can hear the fans running. When I turn it off and crank it back up the light goes away. It has done this before when it is raining... So whats wrong?

Re: SES Light

No need to guess.... get it scanned. The code is still there, and will remain there until you drive a predetermined number of "drive cycles" without the problem coming back.

or if you disconnect the battery for several seconds or have the code programmed out. I guess this is just obvious though.

While the code can be cleared that way, it won't fix a continuing problem. As Fred said, get the code pulled, and you'll know what direction to go.

well yeah...i know that. I was just saying there are several more ways that it can be taken out. Definetly get it scanned so you can see what caused it to come on to start with

definately Fred. There is a correct procedure to take, in order to see what is causing the SES light. Get it scanned (Freescan, or local auto mechanic) After you get the car scanned, and recieve the code, post it back up, and we will give you feedback, or steps to take, in order to resolve the problem or situation. Disconnecting the battery, and reconnecting it simply "clears" the code, it doent fix it. So if there is a problem with the car, the light will keep coming on. You dontfix your crapped underwear, by simply putting on another pair on top of the crapped ones. Fix it the right way. And you cant "program the code out." Unless it is something that is comming up, that you eliminated on the car (i.e EGR, AIR) Hope that helps.
