I also did an install of a 160* thermostat and k&n cai when i ported the maf. any suggestions on what it may be? the car still runs fine i just dont like the light.

If you are the one I sold the MAF sensor to. You are correct, the MAF is fine. Just backing myself up, incase somebody tries to say.... Maybe he lied and that's the reason he sold it! Anyway, here is a TTT for ya.

Just had a thought. Maybe the car hasn't calibrated to the new readings of the correct sensor. Try to pull the PCM fuse to reset the PCM. If the light reappears after the fuse has been pulled and reinstalled, then you know that it's something else. I think that since the codes are still stored from the previous sensor, they just haven't had time to clear. It usually takes about 7 days for the PCM to adjust and reset the codes, unless you pull the fuse like I said. Well, from my experience it's taken about seven days. Good Luck. Let us know if it works.

If the SES light is on, there's a problem. It isn't going to magically "clear". Check the connector to make sure you didn't bend the pins. Check the sensor element to make sure it isn't excessively dirty. The long term fuel corrections should easilly compensate for the miscalibration that "porting" causes. I'm willing to bet that the BLM's are max'd out, causing the codes.

If you could get a scanner on it, and get the MAF gps flow readings for idle and a variety of operating conditions, inculding WOT, it would be easy to see if the MAF is the problem.

Since it seems to be happening simultaneously on both sides, it can be anything that causes a major "lean" condition, including MAF, low fuel pressure, fuel contamination and leaks in the exhaust sytem (both sides??).
