service engine soon light, fans stuck on. help

Well, I got my car back from the shop (had a new tranny installed), and on the way home, I get an SES light. I notice that my fan switch is off, but both of the fans are goin, and the temp is good, around 160-180. Somethings telling the car that its overheating, when its not. Anyone know what the problem might be? thermostat?

I have same problem. Check your Air Pump fuse, is it Blown ? It is located in engine compartment.

I had problems with the air pump fuse as well..

Well until I removed it..

I'd check the fuse for that first.. Might be that simple for you

In the underhood fuse/relay center behind the LH headlight. The fans come on because of the SES-that's normal.

Since you have a 1993, you can pull trouble codes yourself and see what the SES is for.

So does an SES light always cause the fans to stay on?

In most cases, it triggers the fans.

OK..makes me feel a little better. Mine have been running an awful lot I thought. I have several codes triggered by removal of air pump, egr, rear O2s, and the like. Guess i should hit up pcmforless sometime. Thanks for the info.
