Service engine soon light

When ideling for short periods at a time (Like at the stoplight) my (SES) light comes on. but its not always consistant. just everyonce in a while. I tried hooking my Diagnostic scanner up to my camaro, but it wont connect too the computer. But the car runs great!

You need to find a scanner that will work and get it scanned. Remember that you must use a real scanner and not a tool that merely shorts the pins of the DLC, because you cannot flash trouble codes on a 1994.

What do you mean by real scanner?? What type of scanner is best for connecting too OBD1? Mines a Snap on W/ obd1 and 2 diagnostic links. works awsome on my other vehicles, just not on my camaro

Re: Service engine soon light

I have a similar situation with my '95 - the light comes on when the cooling fans kick on (at stop lights, etc.) I just replaced my water pump and this started - I'm sure it's related since I had the fans out of the car. Driveability is fine, and the light goes off when I restart the car. I haven't checked for any codes, but it sounds similar to your problem.

The fans come on with the SES light, not the other way around.

You have to have it scanned. If you don't you're working blindly. The SES is there to tell you something specific is wrong.
