Absolutely not. It's no better than the stock one. With your mods, you don't need to be thinking about an intake.

Rob's right on. It's the biggest piece of crap, and has actually shown in some cases to REDUCE HP.

Re: need some info on intake manifold

There's not much to "port" on either the stocker or the Edelbrock. The runners are only 3+" long. Other then providing a smooth transition to ported head runners, there's not much you can do to either. The problem with the Edelbrock is reduced plenum volume. The higher your air demand, the bigger the problem becomes. They gave up plenum volume to provide the "air gap" design, and it wasn't a very smart trade off.

Depends you bench racing or talking about the real world?

I am sure the bench racers will tell you it is awesome but wont be able to back it up with any result.

Stock shortblock NA cars are topping 400rwhp with intakes just ported for a larger TB, no internal work. The LT1 intake works so well Lingenfelter and Edelbrock both failed to make any meaningful improvement in the 90s and they both tried. When the LT4 intake went out of production Edelbrock let some of their integrity go and released a marginal product be cause they knew all they needed was their name to sell it and the result didn't actually matter.

IMO it's worth no more than a used stock ported manifold.

They look nice, little more showy, that is worth something to some folks. Those who have seen my car know I am not one of those folks.

Re: need some info on intake manifold

I would not jump on the ported intake not making gains bandwagon!

This is a LE ported intake swapped to a epoxy/ported intake with fixed runner geometry and plenum work.
Picked up 1.8mph and .14et in worse conditions on a very dialed in LT1 car with an honest person doing the data logging with every 1/4 pass. Take it with a grain of salt but the gains are there if you do the work on it.
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt...e-results.html

This is not much more work over the traditional ported intakes just more attention to detail and plenum volume, the epoxy is to allow more aggressive runner raising without punching through casting. Do a search on Jordan Musser and you will see his idea behind the welded runners.

I agree on the edelbrock being junk out of the box but it sure looks good and has much thicker runners for tons of port work

Re: need some info on intake manifold

While I agree with the above to an extent, that testing was done on a far more aggressive setup than what the OP is looking at (stock bottom end, stock heads, CC304 cam).

There's no doubt that on a more aggressive setup that porting the stock manifold can yield gains, albeit small.

Re: need some info on intake manifold

I admit I did not look at his sig or specs so to OP, stick with a stock intake other than the need for a 58MM cut if running new TB.
