serious oil leak problem!

the car is 1997 LT1 formula AUTO

ok l parked my car for 2 days in the garage and todya l pulled her back to wash but l saw a huge oil LAKE on the floor.. l got under the car and l saw it is coming BETWEEN TRANSMISSION and ENGINE OIL PAN (RIGHT ABOVE THE STARTER I GUESS) and l saw some antifreeze mixxed up with the oil too. also my power steering is getting real hard sometimes ( something is wrong with it it too) l dont know if it is related.. I CHECKED THE OIL, LEVEL LOOKS OK BUT THE OIL IS KINDA BLACK.. WTF?!?!?

so what is it? and how can it be fixed? and how much would that cost?

l have an oil leak from front of the engine but that is small and not a big deal.. it has been like that and not a problem..

please help, this is the only car l have!

thank you all..

its probably coming from the back of the intake manifold, the oil is leaking from the back of the intake down your bellhousing, it is a very common leak (my car has it right now) my mechanic estimated about 200 to fix but pulling the intake is no biggie so im doing it myself. id say save yourself about 150 and do it urself.

Its also possible your water pump is starting to go and is leaking through the weep hole and getting all over your belts. I had this happen, and my power steering would go in and out because the belt was slipping on the pulley. Its also possible that the coolant is mixing with the oil leak you already know about and is kinda washing the oil off with it and dripping down the backside of your engine.

if its the intake manifold it is a pretty big deal but if u have any mechanical knowledge at all u can fix it in one day. it took me like an hour and 1/2 to take it off then i spent like 2 hours cleaning everything real well then about 2 hours to put it back on. not hard just tedious

id suggest that if ur car is cool to go and feel around the back of the intake and see if u can feel excess oil back there. if u decide thats what it is just do a search on here and u will see how common it is, just another flaw in the lt1..

Re: serious oil leak problem!

so how am l gonna diagnose this, if it s bellhousing or intake manifold?

l have kinda knwledge about cars..

l replaced my window motors,
radiator,
belt, turn signals,
on 94 corolla l replace started and tinted windows (like pro)

do can l handle this problem by myself again?

i ment if ur intake manifold is leaking on the back its probably running down ur bellhousing and getting on ur starter, exhaust, and all that stuff. u may be better off taking it to get it fixed because u have to be right on when u set the intake back on or it will scrape the rtv off then u need to tighten everything to spec..
