Security light and opti?

Security light and opti?

i heard that the security light might have someting to do with the opti is this true?the car runs the light comes on every now and then.and every now and then it will run like crap from idle on up to 3k.but it doesnt matter if the light is on or not for it run like that.does that make sense?if any thoughts please help.

I can't think of any possible connection between the Opti and the Pass-Key system.

Describe in more detail what you mean by "runs like crap". That's not really much to go on.

Might also want to add a "signature", with basic info about your car, including model, year, any major mods. Sometimes helps people help you.

OK LIKE I SAID FROM idle on up to 3k it stumbles(sometimes backfires).but it doesent do it all the time, when i run it hard or when ever it wants to.could it be the egr?i heard it operates from idle to 3k but not at wot.what do you think?btw 93 z28 msd wires,csr wp,k&n filter,tb bypass.i dont know how to set up sig how do i do it?

Go to the red bar on the top of any page. Left click on "User CP". One of the options in the drop-down list will be "Edit Signature". I copied and pasted what you already typed. You can change it by following the steps I outlined.

An EGR stuck open will cause a very rough idle, and can cause roughness at any RPM.

Also consider things that can deteriorate when they heat up, like the IC Module, the optical module in the Opti, the coil, etc. Check the Opti harness connectors for corrosion or damaged pins.
