security blinking and no start

To start out with my ignition switch went yesterday and now the new one is in. my gauges work and the fuel pump kicks on and i hear a click from under the dash. my coil, opti, and icm is all new. battery connections are fine. i even tried my spare key and nothing. i did a search but i think i tried everything. if theres an easy way to get rid of the security system will someone let me know and explain where all of that crap is too. thanks guys

Re: security blinking and no start

go to ebay and get a vats bypass key. that will allow anyone to take the car without a key though (they'll have to hotwire but the pump will still work)

or...what you should do...is take the car to the dealer and have them reprogram the chip on the key. they'll need the car so you likely will have to either tow it there or use the ebay anti-vats key to get it there.

Search for "security light" in the general tech forum (that's where these questions are addressed). Maybe you just left the VATS connector unplugged...

Damn thats a pain in the *** huh.Happened to me several times. Sometimes it is your alarms just ****ting on you. But one thing to check is that the chip on your key is not excessively worn, if so then it might not have proper contact so the comp is thinking it is the wrong key.

Re: security blinking and no start

thanks for the responses i appreciate your help. after i replaced the old ignition switch that burnt( the one thats above the column) I got another switch (the one you put the key in) and bypassed the one in the column and it fired right up. so just to let you guys know the white switch with the blue connector burnt and the switch in the column also went bad and wouldnt read the chip in the key. what a headache. i cant believe they both went bad at the same time. anyway thanks for the help.
