Sealing Canton VCs
Sealing Canton VCs
Just got mine the other day and looking at them im not sure if they require a gasket or a liquid sealant like "the right stuff". only seen one pic of a guy with an actual gasket on the covers and it doesnt look right to me. Probably gonna try the right stuff unless somebody has bad experiences using that on valve covers. Anybody know for sure?
thanks for the reply. gonna get some today. for anyone searching this in the future i would not recommend using "the right stuff" over a standard rubber gasket simply because of valve adjustments. completely forgot about them and having to clean and scrape all that **** off every time you take them off.
im bringing this one back people... I am running into the same issue. I mocked up the canton valvve covers with the rubber gaskets and I am worried about how they sit. Do you guys rely on a compression fit and does it or will it leak? or do you use some kind of sealant material along with the gasket to help it seal right?
I posted pics on thirdgen.org (383 LT1 swap into a 92z)

I never did this on Cantons, but on older cars we used to glue the gasket to the VC just for convenience of removing/installing it - make sure it's flat when it sets up if you do it this way. Assuming the Cantons are shaped correctly, this should seal it up.
