Scanning my 1995...
Yer, I was sure I knew the answer to this Q... But i suppose I didn't...
I'm using an AUTORAY2000 obd I and obd II scanner. Has the 12 pin GM connector, a ford connector, a chrysler connector, and a 16 pin GM obd II connector...
I put in my vehicles information and vin, use the 16 pin ALDL connector and I don't get a signal... I thought this scanner would scan my obdi when i plug in the obdii cable.
Should I just hook up a 12 pin ALDL to this piece!? or use shbox's a proven method like shown with the jumper wires?
Where can I get an adapter cable...

The Auto XRay should include an adapter plug to go from 12-pin OBD-I to 16-pin OBD-I. If you don't have the adapter, hooking it up the way Shoebox suggests, using the 12-pin connector would be the way to go. I personally wouldn't describe Shoebox's method as "gangsta rigg"..... sound very insulting. He's providing a proven method, and its done in a very careful and professional manner.
Autoxray sells the correct GM "specific" cable. Or you can "adapt" it like my site shows.
By all mean's i didn't mean to insult anyone, especially shbox's site. (It's amazing)
I ended up using my 12 pin harness, with the two jumper wires. Scanned, showed no codes... I think when this guy was trying to change his spark plugs he unplugged something and forgot to reattach it.
I haven't had the time to start digging into this, Once I get the chance I need to check for fuel and spark.
The pump is engaging, but I don't know if it's getting to the injectors at the right PSI. I also need to check from the coil to the opti for spark, then from the opti to the plugs, I have a good feeling thats where the problem is.
( I've edited my first post, no harm done hopefully.) Thanks guys!
