If you install the ScanMaster, you will have to disconnect it when you attach any other device, such as the HPP+. There is two-way communication between the ScanMaster and the PCM, so it will interfere with a programmer or another scan device. I wired my ScanMaster permanently, then put a switch on the data wire, to allow it to be disconnected when the programmer is hooked up.

Just to add some clarification... like Fred said, you'll need to put a switch on your ScanMaster for anytime you want to connect something else to the ALDL port. But, this doesn't mean it won't work with the HPP+. Once you finish the uploading from the HPP+ it'll work fine... they just won't work together at the same time (don't turn on the ScanMaster while programming with the HPP+!!!).

an easier method than splicing into wires is to buy a connector so you can simply unplug the scanmaster. Andrew at www.akmcables.com sells these for $10.

I hooked mine up using Brent's guide. And put a mini toggle like Fred was talking about. Works just fine.
