Safe to switch to synthetic

My car has 88,000 miles on it, and it only leaks a very small amount between oil changes, not enough to show on the dipstick.Would it be safe to switch to Mobil 1, or might this make the leak worse?

Thanks for the replies, would be the intake leaking if the oil shows up on the front cover of the tranny

front of the tranny?? you mean the bellhousing? that would be your typical rear intake leak on the lt1

Definitely safe to switch, but if you're going with Mobil 1, I'd highly recommend their 0w40 over their 5w30 or 10w30.

Your leak could also be coming form the front main seal and blowing back when you are driving. Just a thought. When my front main was leaking I was getting oil as far back as my rearend

Or even better, go to www.bobistheoilguy.com, and then check out the message board there too.

My car started leaking after I went to synthetic oil, but I don't care - the extra protection is worth it, and my LT1 has over 100K miles, so I can't complain about a small drip here and there.
