Safe to lift engine at dampener?

Hey all, I need to lift up the engine about 2 inches for a little bit. what is the best way to do so if not a jack under my dampener? BTW, the dampener is an ATI.

I wouldn't jack the engine under a $375 damper.

What are you trying to accomplish? That will determine the most effective way to raise the engine.

I need to lift the engine an inch or two to get washers under the motor mounts. On the conversion, the oil pan just barely touches the rack and pinion tube so it needs to be moved up permanently 1/8" or so.

Of course I have pieces of wood that would go inbetween the jack and the dampener.

The wood woulnt help, its the weight and the load being placed on the dampener.

How did you lift the motor to isntall the new mounts? Whats wrong with doing it this way?
I've heard of ppl using wood blocks to support and lift from the oil pan, but thats not much better if you asked me.

2 ton lift and the engine from the bottom with X-member. I guess I could put that lift back together and do again just a real pain to assemble an disassemble. Was looking for somehting easy since I jack the car up and down all the time.

Use large, solid pieces of wood, to spread the load over the maximum area of the pan.
