Is it safe to fire new motor, and what oil should I run?
No! You need a tune first. At least get all of the constants changed. You need to be able to run the motor at 2kRPM for about 15-20 min the first time you start it up. I made the mistake of not hooking up all the vacuum lines and my headers glowed red. That motor won't even idle with a stock tune.
I also like to use a medium weight dino oil. 10-40 or so since it's hot outside. Change it after the initial 20 min startup run and then adjust the rockers. Put new dino oil in after that and run for 500 miles or so before changing. There are different opinions about when you can switch to synthetic. I haven't made it to that point yet...

You will wreck your motor by washing down the cylinder walls. It will have 42/24 = 83% extra fuel if it has a stock tune!! I use Brad Penn break in oil, but you will probably be fine using any good non-synthetic oil.

Thanks for the input! I sold the stockers so that's not an option as of now. I was just looking to here the wrong answer but my thoughts were correct as to the start up. I waited this long no sense in wrecking my motor I'll just wait till I send out the computer I think I'm going to go with pcm4less and maybe even the OBD ! conversion but not 4 sure yet.
