SA or NSA rockers??

My short term plan is 1.6 rr's with new springs. My long term goal is a bigger cam. Should I go with NSA rocker's or SA rockers. I've heard that NSA is more stable at high rpms. Is it really worth the effort of having to get guideplates and hardened pushrods? Thanks.

It also depends on what grind of cam you go with. If you go with a tamer cam, you can still get away with SA rocker arms. If you plan to go with something like the CC503, CC306, or beyond, I would do the NSA setup.

It's cheap insurance to have guide plates. Neither hardened pushrods or guideplates are expensive.

If you're not going to turn more than about 6500 RPM, the SA's will work OK. However, if you will be turning 7000+ RPM you should use the NSA's with guide plates.

would SA's be fine with a 503 cam, stock heads and planned redline of around 6k?

Don't limit the cam to what kind of RPM your happy with. If that's the case, go with a cam that peaks earlier so you have all the benefits of said cam. As in if the cam peaks at 5700 your shift points would be around 6000.

I would do NSA. Might cost a little bit more now, but if you want to upgrade to a bigger cam and rev higher later on and you go with SA now, then you are buying another set.

I agree, with that kind of cam, I wouldn't go cheap on the supporting valvetrain parts. I would use NSA rockers.
