Question RX-7 with 95 LT1 M6, What cam to get??

I am just getting all the wiring and other odds and ends done on my car. The car has 4.10 gears stock. Only mods to motor now are bolt ons, cold air, Mac headers, custom 3inch exhaust with borla muffler. I was wondering what cam would be a good choice with my car and setup? I plan on porting my heads and slowly upgrading the head components as I go. I have been looking at the comp cams extreme grind. I am wanting to know what everyone thinks as which one to go with. The car only weighs 2750 lbs, and has 50/50 weight distribution. I am thinking that a cam with better topend would be better for my setup. I have read many posts on these cams and heard many great results. Any help, comments, or ideas would be great.

Thanks Les

Throw a hot cam in it but if you plan on portingthose heads anytime some, I would just give it the CC 306.

It depends what kind of drivebility you want. What will be the intended use of the car. If you looking at the xe-grinds and want decent driveability I would get the 224/230 on a 112lsa.

Well I plan on driving it alot, almost everyday. The reason I don't want the 306 is that I want to have some chance of passing emission, although I am not sure how it will go with a V8 in the car, since it has a 1.3 liter rotary crap motor.

Seeing as thought that ‘crap 1.3L’ motor gets MUCH worse gas mileage than an LT1, I don’t think passing emission will be much of a problem so long as your cats are in and the emissions system is working properly. However, the 306 may be a little much. A Hot Cam would do well though.

Is the engine already in the car? I'd love to see pictures. I heard you couldn't fit headers into an LT1 RX7.

That sounds like a hell of a car! I'm sure you'll enjoy the lt-1 in it. With the right head/cam combo many 3600 lbs f-bodys are runing 11s.

I have the hotcam and I wish I went bigger.
