Lightbulb Running without MAP Sensor!! No Choice!!

I ruined my MAP Sensor this morning about 2 AM.

I unplugged the harness now and car starts but SES light is on and of course, fans running.

I expect to get new sensor tomorrow. NO MONEY!! Where should I get it??
Dealer? AutoZone, PepBoys, Advance Auto??

Can I damage the engijne if I drive it?

You have forced the PCM to default to a mode where it can run without the MAP sensor. That means it can't find the correct igntion timing (set be a chart, using MAP and RPM) and it can't find the correct long term fuel correction cell (also a function of
MAP and RPM). So it is probably basing timing only on RPM and defaulting to Cell 18 for long term fuel trims. Not quite "limp home" mode, but geting close.

As a result, you aren't going to get real good performance out of the engine. Not likely you would see any damage from running like this briefly. I wouldn't try any WOT passes at this point though... baby it.

You need one urgently.. an auto parts chain store should have one, since many GM vehicles use the identical sensor. A dealer would be the best source, because the GM sensors are very good, but it will probably cost you twice as much at a dealer.

THANKS!!

If I remove my EGR Valve, and block it off, would that help my car run better or not?

Right now I'm checking all vacuum hoses around intake and hopefully new MAP will solve problem. Car stalled on me yesterday. Second time in past week. Before that, car NEVER STALLED AND NEVER REFUSED TO START!!! I'm gonna keep this SOB if it costs me an arm, TRUST ME!!!

Can I visually check my cat converter? , I'm thinking it may be clogged.

I bought a new one at Autozone and my car ran alot better.
To visually check your converter you would need to pull the pipe clear and check it. Hi flow cat is a good investment if you must run one.
Get you a new MAP sensor ASAP it is important.
I would run without O2s before running without a MAP sensor.
