Since most of y'all aren't responding with test results, you aren't going to get answers to help solve this problem. If you can't respond with answers cause you don't have the equipment to do so, you shouldn't be modding(that drastically) in the first place.
I took the approach to get entirely comfortable with understanding, being able to diagnose a problem and repair LT1's. Long before I try for the 383. It's sitting in the garage waiting for me to catch up technical savy wise(that and the fact that I'm out of money) to it. I know I'm not ready to just plug the thing in, fire it up, it runs crappy and I pull my hair out cause I can't fix it. I bought my first (only) LT1 in 2001. Except for one engine mod and a bunch of body/suspension/fuel system upgrades, it's stock. I own a Snap-on scanner. Damn near the first tool you buy when owning an LT1. Notice it's not the dime store scanners that can only read out DTCs but it will monitor engine sensors real time.
Y'all can BMW all day long and expect someone on this board to come up with the answer. For some it makes sense. Could be there was something they missed out of the ordinary. But for those few, it's going to come down to having to look at things like I and Injuneer suggested, that will take a GOOD scanner. And guess what? You can't run down to the local Auto Zone to get the answer. TOOLS, TOOLS, TOOLS, go hand in hand with knowledge.
I'll get off my soap box now.
Re: Running rich problem
FWIW, I have a laptop with AKM OBD1 cable, DataMaster, TunerCat, a PCM4Less tune after providing them with accurate cam specs and head flow #s along with all the other mods I did, and I'm not real stupid.
Except for the machine shop work, I did all the work myself, and it's done right. I'm the original owner of my car, so I know exactly what has and has not been done to it.
No, I think this condition is a weird one, and I'm surprised to see so many other guys with similar setups and the same issue. Something's going on that's not immediately obvious, I think, and as everybody starts getting some data and sorting this out, I suspect we may all go "ahhhhhhhhh, who'd have guessed that......" before we're done.

I'm not even close to upset or offended. I'm hopeful about this many people with the same issue helping each other in finding one or two common solutions. I've been super busy and haven't had time in the last few days to seriously dive back in under the hood (or dash). But I do think that at least one person with this issue (me for instance) being able to run a log and/or flash their own PCM to try a couple suggestions might prove handy. Frankly, I'm hoping someone with more PCM programming experience than me will offer to have a look at a DataMaster log, but I don't want to presume on that much of somebody elses time, unless they are really into it, ya' know?
It's just a misinterpretation, I think. All the way down to my age.......
I'm 49
Peace.

That's funny right there, (you know the rest).
Re: Running rich problem
Sorry, didn't mean to bum you out.
I'm pretty deep into computers as a part of my job, and I've seen combined threads like this solve some pretty serious head scratching problems, if several people are having a similar issue. Usually, somebody who really knows their stuff kind of takes over and lays out 2 or 3 pieces of info they want everybody to provide from their setup, then it progresses from there. If organized, more data from more people can be a good thing.
So if I "hijacked" the thread, I'm sorry, but in some other types of forums I'm the guy who knows his stuff and I've been able to get to the bottom of things for several people at once on a thread like this one.
Anyway, if I figure out a fix and it seems to be a likely candidate in general, I'll make sure and start a fresh thread for it.

Re: Running rich problem
i got news, i checked my oil today, and it is very dark, only 500 miles on it...i wiped some off of the dipstick and it smelt like fuel, turns out, there is fuel in the oil, i think it might be the FPR, but it also has a miss, only sometimes at 5 grand....could this be it, if someone could, please list all the possible things that could cause fuel/oil mixture in the block, i appreciate it....
